With rapid economic development, population growth and urbanization, Rwanda faces a great challenge to meet its increasing energy demand. Currently, Rwanda’s energy supply is dominated by hydropower and thermal energy, while the supply of oil, natural gas and renewable energies is relatively short.
Development project of the Nuclear Power Plant based on Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology is a unique solution that can simultaneously solve two issues: the development of dispatchable generation in the country from the one hand, and the creation of low-carbon generation, on the other hand in line with Vision 2050.
